Mark McGwire 1st Steroid MLB Hall of Famer
Mark McGwire came clean on January 11th and admitted to taking steroids for over a decade. Many believe that McGwire should still be in the voted into the MLB Hall of Fame and I have to agree. McGwire never lied about taking steroids and the fact that after all of these years he admitted to taking them shows you what a class act this guy is. Mark McGwire never had to come clean but he felt that he owed it to his fans and to MLB to set the record straight before he took the position of Cardinals new hitting coach.
While many people in MLB already speculated that McGwire took steroids including Jose Canseco nobody could ever prove it. McGwire did not have to say anything but he did anyway knowing that it would jeopardize his chance of being inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. If you look at his stats through-out his MLB career and look at what McGwire has done for the game of baseball there is simply no way you do not vote him into the MLB Hall of Fame. You could say that the pressure by MLB and the fans to hit homeruns would make a slugger like Mark McGwire take steroids.
When Mark McGwire took steroids they were not banned from baseball so he did not break any rules. Steroids also help players recover faster from injuries and McGwire did have his share of injuries during his career. Looking back McGwire wished he never took them but then I know that MLB would not have the amount of fans that the game currently has today. McGwire loves the game of baseball so much that he is returning to the game as the Cardinals hitting coach. He does not need the money or need to come back to the game but you can’t stay away from something you love. You should definitely give Mark McGwire a second chance and a shot at getting into the MLB Hall of Fame after you look at everything that he did for baseball including the health risk that he took by taking steroids when they were not banned.
