NCAA Basketball Odds – Nebraska vs. Texas Betting Predictions
NCAA Basketball Odds – Longhorns try to keep pace in Big 12 against Cornhuskers
Most US sportbooks (US sportsbook review) had Texas as one of the favorites to reach the Final Four in Indianapolis this year, but the Longhorns are going through a tough period which has seen them slip down the top 25, and in the Big 12 pecking order. The Longhorns will host a slumping Nebraska team that won’t go down without a fight.
Nebraska vs Texas odds – Saturday, February 13, 4:00 PM ET
The Cornhuskers (13-11, 1-8) have dropped eight of their last nine, but only twice during that time have they been beaten by 12 points. Nebraska fell 55-52 at home against Baylor on Wednesday, shooting a terrible 31.6% from the field, including 4-of-21 from the three-point arc, and they were outrebounded 37-22. All three of Nebraska’s scorers (Myles Holley with 11 points, Brandon Richardson and Eshaunte Jones with 11 points each) came off the bench, but Nebraska played some scrappy defense, holding Baylor to 40% from the floor.
The No.14 Longhorns (19-4, 5-4) fell 80-68 at home in their big showdown with Kansas for their fifth loss in seven games, and Texas couldn’t get anything going offensively, shooting 37.3% from the floor. Damion James tried to carry the team with 24 points and 10 boards, while J’Covan Brown came off the bench to pour in 28, but outside of Gary Johnson’s 10, no other Longhorn scored more than three points. The Longhorns also committed 17 turnovers, and big center Dexter Pittman had another sluggish game with three points, four rebounds, and four blocks. Pittman played just 21 minutes, and his conditioning leaves a lot to be desired.
The Longhorns will definitely be favored at home in this contest by your gambling software, as the Cornhuskers are 0-7 in Texas, although they have beaten the spread in the last four visits to Austin. Texas has dropped two in a row at home, and the pressure is on not to fall too far back in the Big 12 as they’re behind Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Texas A&M, and they’re tied with Baylor, who came into Austin and won an overtime game against the Longhorns. Texas needs their guards to step up, particularly freshman Avery Bradley, although Brown’s play against Kansas is encouraging. This would be a good game for James to take over, and Pittman could also have a big game if he can stay on the court long enough. Nebraska isn’t a big team, and the Longhorns have a definite advantage down low. The Longhorns should have enough in the tank to avoid a three-game losing streak at home, and if not, it’s officially panic time in Austin if you have them in your March Madness betting picks.
