Kevin Martin Trade

Reports are coming in that a big trade between the Rockets and Kings will be done before the NBA trade deadline on Thursday February 18th. The Houston Rockets have supposedly made a deal with the Sacramento Kings in which they will trade Tracy McGrady for Kevin Martin. This is a trade that has likely been in the works for a long time now. Thursday both sides will sit down and try to make it officially happen. McGrady does however wish to end up with the New York Knicks. The Kevin Martin trade will likely impact seven players total.

The trade would likely involve seven players including Tracy McGrady, Carl Landry, Kevin Martin, Joey Dorsey, Hilton Armstrong, Kenny Thomas and guard Sergio Rodriguez. On Wednesday night Kevin Martin was pulled from the game against the Golden State Warriors because of this trade. Martin is now 27 years old and had spent his entire career with the Sacramento Kings. Martin was injured early in the season and his spot was filled by Tyreke Evans.

While McGrady and Martin have both had their injury problems this is a trade that will work out for all parties involved. Martin averaged 19.8 points per game in 22 contests for the 2009-10 season. McGrady played just 6 games in the 2009-10 season with only 19 points scored due to a micro-fracture surgery that kept him from performing. Don’t be surprised to see a three way deal done Thursday that involves McGrady going to the Knicks. The Kevin Martin trade should be exactly what the Rockets need and I look for him to be a solid addition to this Houston line-up.
