This week starts with some preliminary results of the 2010 NFL Combine with on field workouts for numerous potential offensive draft picks. Sunday opened up with the continued focus on Tim Tebow, the Florida quarterback. He performed well in the standard drills, although he did not do any throwing. Tebow has created a lot of speculation regarding changing his throwing style in order to be able to perform at the NFL level. If there was an overall winner for the quarterbacks, it would probably be Jarrett Brown from West Virginia as he was first in the 40 yard dash and finished third or above for all of the other drills. Much attention was placed on the running backs during their standard drills. Jahvid Best ran the top time of 4.35 in the 40-yard dash and this California running back has the first spot in the 3-cone drill. C.J. Spiller also had an impressive day, coming in second in the 40-yard dash. Another running back to watch for is Montario Hardesty from Tennessee who was first in the vertical jump and the broad jump. Dexter McCluster had a lack luster performance, but do not count him out as the NFL Combine 2010 results continue to stream in. The wide receivers went through some of their drills with Jacoby Ford from Clemson posting a 4.28 in the 40-yard dash. Other wide receiver standouts of the day were Brandon Long and Emmanuel Sanders.
In the tight end category, Dorin Dickerson of Pittsburgh had some great performances in all six drills, including his 4.40 in the 40-yard dash that lead all tight ends and wide receivers. There were no defensive drills on the field Sunday, but the defensive players were in the weight room performing the bench press part of their Combine. Geno Atkins from Georgia had an impressive day in the weight room. The defensive players will take to the field on Monday to run their on field drills as the 2010 NFL Combine continues.
