Olympics Hockey Finals, A Great Finish To the 2010 Games
It was a game that will make this Olympics hockey finals, a great finish to the 2010 games, one to remember for years to come. Canada was looking to add to its record breaking gold medal count and was heavily favored to win the tournament from the start. The US team, which posted a surprising record during these games, based on the nearly flawless play of goalie Ryan Miller, gave Canada a last minute scare. The US team was facing a 0-2 score early on, which was the first time they were playing from behind during the tournament. The chances to come back from this deficit for a win would be a huge task for the US team.
The US scored on Ryan Kesler’s goal with 7:16 remaining in the game, making the score 2-1, Canada. With only 24.4 seconds left in the fourth period, the US team tied the score, sending the game into overtime. The winning goal for Canada came from Sidney Crosby and giving the Canadian’s their first ever gold medal on their own soil. The fans, players and the entire country may be celebrating for the next week as the Canadian’s certainly take their hockey very seriously. This final game led to the closing of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
The 2010 Olympic games started off with the devastating death of the Georgian Luger, which cast somberness to the opening ceremonies. The games crowned a new queen of women’s figure skating and we saw many new records set. We watched Canadian Skater, Rochette perform under incredible circumstances and win the bronze. The US team earned a new record of medals, Apolo Ohno set a new medal count for American speed skaters and we saw the four-man bobsled team earn gold. The US ski team performed well above expectations and the Canadian’s won a record amount of gold medals. The closing ceremonies concluded as the Mayor of Vancouver passed the Olympic flag to the Mayor of Sochi, Russia where the Winter Games will be played in 2014. The defining moment for Canada will perhaps be the Olympics hockey finals, a great finish to the 2010 games.
Since the Winter Olympics are now finished the focus is on the 2010 March Madness Betting with the NCAA Tournament officially starting on March 16.
