Brandon Manumaleuna Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears will be adding tight end Brandon Manumaleuna to their team. They were looking for someone who has the blocking and protection abilities that Manumaleuna would be able to bring. Not only is he an excellent blocking tight end, but he also has the ability to make the clutch catches. He is coming from the San Diego Chargers and has spent 10 seasons in the NFL.

Brandon Manumaleuna will be signing a five-year deal with the Bears. He will be helping to protect quarterback Jay Cutler, who had a less than glorious first year for Chicago. The Bears are looking to add to their offensive threat after their disappointing season. Last year they were 19th in scoring, as well as being 23rd in average yards per game.

The Bears are also looking to strengthen their defense so they can be a viable threat in the 2010 season. This is why all the attention has been on whether or not Chicago will be able to obtain Julius Peppers. There had been some speculation that Peppers was looking at teams other than Chicago. Peppers is a five-time Pro Bowler, with over 10 sacks and was the cause of five fumbles last season. It looks as though the Chicago management and Peppers may be able to finalize a six-year deal with him earning over $12 million a year. With the addition of Peppers on the defensive side and with signing Brandon Manumaleuna, the Bears may well be on their way to being a contender in the NFC.
