Anquan Boldin signs with the Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have acquired wide receiver Anquan Boldin from the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for two draft picks in the 2010 NFL draft set to take place in April. Boldin, who has been in the NFL for seven seasons, signed a four year contract with the Ravens in which he is set to make $28 million with a guarantee of $10 million. Boldin missed the two playoff games for the Cardinals this year due to injury, despite that the Ravens are excited to have him join their team. Coach Jon Harbaugh stated that “Anquan is a significant addition for us”.

The Ravens finished the 2009 regular season with a 9-7 record which placed them second in the AFC north division. They won their Wildcard Playoff against the New England Patriots and then lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Playoffs. The Baltimore Ravens were looking to add to their wide receivers in the off season and with this addition have done so. The Ravens also signed free agent Donte’ Stallworth last month.

Boldin is very happy with his trade to the Baltimore Ravens. A year ago he had asked to be traded from the Cardinals, however management could not find anything that suited them at the time. The Ravens have shown interest in Boldin lately and with Arizona not interested in extending his contract past this upcoming season the trade works out well for both teams. The 2010 season is sure to be exciting for the Baltimore Ravens, let’s see who else they pick up in the off season.
