NCAA Basketball Tournament 2010

The NCAA Basketball Tournament 2010 Selection Committee is likely in  the middle of finalizing their selections for the upcoming March Madness brackets. They are still waiting for many of the conferences to hold their championship games today and tomorrow in order to finalize the automatic bids. It is probably a given that we already know many of the teams that will be participating in the road to the final four. It is the last remaining teams that are still a question.

The conference tournaments have provided many hours of exciting basketball. There have been some upsets and unexpected twists and turns; as well as teams that performed just like they were expected to. All of the teams are looking to either secure a  spot or improve their seed in the NCAA Basketball Tournament 2010. There are also teams such as Syracuse that have had significant injuries. With Arinze Onuaku injuring his right knee is still undetermined if he will be at full strength when the NCAA tournament begins. The chairperson of the selection committee did say that those teams that have suffered significant injuries to players could have their positioning re-looked at.

Today and tonight, Saturday, March 13, we will see many of the conferences, winding up their games. The semi finals in the Big East will have Georgetown going up against Marquette and in the SEC, Florida and Mississippi State will be playing. The Big 12 found many teams that were looking to improve their positioning and obtain higher seeds for the NCAA Basketball Tournament 2010. The chairman of the selection committee stated that a majority of the teams have been selected and they are still determining the remainder of the field. Even though they do not consider the past 12 games to be a huge impact, it is common knowledge that for those teams that have been on the bubble, these past 12 games have been extremely important in determining if they will make the final bracket positions.
