Selection Sunday Is Here

March 14th at 6:00 pm ET the Selection Sunday commitee announces the final 65 teams going to the NCAA tournament. Some of the conference finals are completed, while others will be playing today for their conference championship title. It looks as though the number one seeding is just about completed. Kansas, Kentucky and Syracuse are certain to have the top seeds and if Duke is able to win the ACC title today, they could be guaranteed the fourth spot.

If Duke loses today against Georgia Tech, it could make way for another team to be in the top four. Ohio State and Purdue will play today for the Big Ten Tournament Championship and if Ohio State should win, and if Duke loses, Ohio State could see themselves in the top four. The other question is whether or not West Virginia will be in the top four as they won the Big 12 title. The final seeding will not be determined until today’s games are completed.

Throughout the past week, many teams have improved their positioning for selection Sunday. While other teams may have seen themselves fall, due to significant losses. Teams such as Tennessee and Vanderbilt most certainly two teams that were not as successful as they had hoped to be. Many people still project that Syracuse will be in the top seed even though they did not get through their quarterfinal game. There are some other teams that are certainly on the cusp of being selected such as Virginia Tech and Florida. With Mississippi State losing their game today to Kentucky they are on bubble as to whether they will make it to the NCAA tournament. Everyone will just have to wait until six o’clock tonight Eastern standard Time to see how the brackets will be finalized.
