Tiger Woods to Play in Masters Golf Tournament 2010
Tiger Woods held a news conference today, March 16, to announce his return to the PGA tour. He will be returning to golf and will play in the Masters Golf Tournament 2010 that is held at Augusta, Georgia. This will be the first tournament that he will participate in after being out of the game for over four months. He last played in the Australian Masters, that was held on November 15, which he won. It was rumored that he would play in the Arnold Palmer event, but Wood’s felt he would not have been ready.
It was that ill-fated Thanksgiving weekend that led to him taking time off to deal with personal problems. This is when he crashed his vehicle into a tree outside of his home and led to his marital problems becoming public. He has been involved in inpatient therapy and stated that he will continue getting help for his personal life. There has been much speculation as to when Tiger Woods return to golf. The Masters Golf Tournament 2010 was chosen, as it seems as though it is the earliest that he would be able to return to the game.
During the news conference, Woods discussed that the Masters Golf Tournament 2010 was important to him, as it was one of the first major tournaments that he had ever won. Many sports analysts believe that this event was chosen due to the limited amount of access to the event from the media. It is also believed that the Masters will be able to maintain some kind of control over the vast amount of attention that Tigers return will generate. The tournament begins on April 8th and is expected to be a huge ratings event.
