Tiger Woods Tee Time at the Masters Golf 2010

At 1:42 PM (EST) on Thursday, April 8, 2010, the Augusta National course will be abuzz for more reasons than just one. Yes, Tiger Woods is returning to the course for the 2010 Master’s Championship and will be partnered with K.J. Choi of South Korea and Matt Kuchar. The early afternoon tee-time will afford Tiger the luxury of sleeping in and a chance to see just how the course is playing. He may miss out on the soft course that the earlier tee-times provide but if history is any indicator, his first round in Augusta is certainly not the most important.

Tiger has struggled in the first round of the Masters and with fifteen Masters tournaments under his belt, he has never broken and only five times has he been good for par. His course mates feature a highly seasoned Choi who has more experience than Kuchar and has been in contention to win in Augusta twice. Choi is a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour and thus far this season he finished second in the Transitions Championship and notched three other top 20 finishes. Kachar is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour but his Masters experience is slim.

As is customary these days, wherever Tiger Woods goes, a crowd follows. In 1988, Kachar and Tiger hit the course together in traditional fashion; Tiger as the defending Masters Champion and Kachar as the U.S. Amateur Champion. These two rounds will feature the large galleries that Tiger always attracts but luckily for Kachar and Choi, the course set-up won’t make the first two rounds seem like a complete circus. If Tiger makes it deep into the tournament, the gallery will most likely grow exponentially, regardless of the course configuration.
