Tiger Woods Commercial Nike: Earl Woods Speaks to Tiger

As if the golf world isn’t swarming enough today as the 2010 Masters Golf Tournament kicks into gear, Nike managed to resurrect Earl Woods, or at least his voice. The reason for bringing Tiger’s Dad back in a voice over is unknown. Controversy or attention could be the reason but I’m pretty sure if Nike and Earl have been paying attention, Tiger’s doing a pretty good job in both of those areas all on his own. No need to bring back the dead to get a little action, especially as of late. The Tiger Woods Commercial, Nike has Earl Woods Speaking to Tiger.

It’s possible that Earl Woods would not be exactly proud of the manner in which is son has attracted attention as of late. Obviously the blank stare you see in Tiger’s face in the commercial during the voice over may implicate just exactly what Tiger felt when he was shooting and/or watching the commercial himself. Speaking of that, how did Nike manage to get this commercial up and on the air through all this commotion?  Possibly, in Tiger’s deepest moments of sadness over ruining his marriage and practically putting a big black mark, and not necessarily the Nike swoosh, on his record, Nike gave Tiger a call asking for some audio of his dad. The Tiger Woods Commercial Nike: Earl Woods Speaks to Tiger, sounds just like the late Earl Woods.

If attention was the bottom line for Nike, they should not run a commercial featuring Earl Woods. Tiger has provided plenty of excitement over the years since he hit the PGA Tour and obviously, he has given us pain and controversy in the last three months all on his own. And, when you listen to the voice over in the commercial, you see a golfer with a shamed face as his father asks him “what was your thinking?” and “what are you feeling?” and lastly, “did you learn anything?”. We’ve made Tiger a superstar among superstars, now we are being asked to consider that Tiger and his father are part of the supernatural.
