NY Yankees: World Series Rings
Winning the baseball World Series definitely ranks right up there with the dreams of most young boys. For fans of the NY Yankees, winning the World Series Titles is simply the way it’s suppose to be done. On Tuesday the World Series Champion Yankees opened their season by collecting their bling. The first to put his hands on the 2009 World Series Ring was Tuesdays starting pitcher Andy Pettitte.
Joe Girardi, Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford were all on hand to hand out World Series Rings. Derek Jeter, the NY Yankee team captain being the last Yankee to get his hands on the ring was overshadowed by the hero of last years World Series. Hideki Matsui seemed to draw the biggest applause even though he doesn’t even play for the Yankees any more. The crowd chanted MVP for Matsui as he took his ring and then promptly returned to his new team’s dugout, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Matsui showed no ill will toward the NY Yankees as he hugged his former teammates. The last time the two teams met, Matsui was wearing the Yankee stripes as they won their 27th World Series Title. The fans started pouring into Yankee stadium early on Tuesday. The ceremony was capped off by the team mascots declaration, “We’re here to raise the banner, get the rings and start it again”.
