Marathons: Flying Pig Marathon versus the Broad Street Run
It’s obviously peak running season. Marathons are popping up every and people of all shapes, sizes and from all walks of life are tying the strings on their shoes extra tight. Regardless of whether you are a serious runner, expecting to run and train for the Boston Marathon in the fall or your are having fun at the Flying Pig Marathon, chances are you just enjoy the sport of running. And as of late, you have many options of marathon you want to run. Grab the ones closest to you and go for a run, a long run if you are so inclined.
Or, if you want to grab the half-marathon you can do that too. The Flying Pig Marathon offers that option as does the Pittsburgh Marathon and the Broad Street Run. The most important aspect of training for marathons is finding a way to gauge your competition as well as you own personal strengths and weakness. You can get a good look at your fellow running mates that are near your age, near your size, and those who are training to run or just running to run.
For many, the various marathons like the Flying Pig Marathon are good places to kick off the spring and see how the winter training has gone. Runners can join in the various marathons around the country. Then, when the big boy comes to Boston in the fall, the runners are ready. Ready for the marathon, or even the half, it’s a lofty goal.
