Annie Brophy: Notre Dame Golfer Caught Cheating

Golf fans have been caught up in all things Tiger Woods lately. He started making news years ago but then Thanksgiving of 2009, he managed to rush to the headlines in a not so fancy way. Apparently there are golfers out there trying to one-up Tiger’s craziness. Annie Brophy is a golfer from Notre Dame who has been disqualified from the NCAA regional tournament for cheating.

Tiger’s form of cheating and Annie Brophy’s form of cheating are completely opposite on the spectrum when it comes to cheating. However, neither of them are going to be very well liked for their antics. According to Brophy, she was just trying to be funny. I’m fairly certain that the officials at the NCAA regional tournament and at Notre Dame are not laughing.

Annie Brophy apparently never planned to turn in an incorrect scorecard. And NCAA officials indicate that Brophy would have ever pulled off the scandal because the players keep each other’s scores, the little practical joke caused way too much confusion. Because Brophy had asked the people keeping scores to post inaccurate numbers on the leaderboard, other teams were sitting around wondering if they would need to take part in a playoff round. It’s not likely that Brophy will try this stunt again as the NCAA officials disqualified her for her attempt to be funny and then pulled her off the course after 14 holes.
