Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers Predictions & Odds

Relentless Dallas pass rush will sack Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay

With Green Bay and Dallas headed in opposite directions, we’re not exactly looking at a majorly hyped battle like Pacquiao Cotto betting. Regardless, the game has great ramifications on the NFL playoff picture so bettors should keep an eye on this one.

NFL odds: Cowboys -3

The Packers are crumbling. They’ve lost two straight; the first, to Minnesota, was forgivable, but last week’s loss to the Buccaneers was inexcusable. Tampa Bay had yet to win a game this season but managed to top the Packers with a rookie quarterback making his first start. That pretty much sums up Green Bay’s defensive struggles; the Packers rank 29th in the NFL with just 13 sacks.

Line problems exist on the other side of the ball, too. Tampa Bay entered the game with only 11 sacks on the year but somehow dropped quarterback Aaron Rodgers six times. It’s not all the line’s fault, though—Rodgers is holding the ball longer and longer; he needs to fix his internal clock to at least give his blockers a chance.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, are starting to bring the heat. Dallas has won four straight after topping Philly 20-16 last week and many thanks should go to the defense. The Cowboys “D” has 20 sacks this year but 15 have come during the four-game winning streak. This is the unit sportsbook bettors expected all season.

It’s not like the offense is slogging behind, either. After some early season inconsistency Tony Romo has cranked up his play, tossing nine touchdowns to just one interception in his last four games. The running game has been as visible lately but that’s mostly a product of the great passing game. Miles Austin is emerging as Romo’s favorite, and most dangerous, target. He caught the decisive 49-yard score against Philly.

This is a brutal mismatch for Green Bay. The best way to face a red-hot quarterback is pressure, which the Packers can’t generate. Their next best hope is to outscore Dallas by throwing the ball and protecting Rodgers—which is incredibly unlikely with the Cowboys defense running wild. This is a no brainer; take Dallas on your NFL predictions.
