Barclays Golf Tournament 2010: Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk

The Pro-Am tournament at Ridgewood County Club in Paramus, New Jersey kicked off this morning. Although Tiger was the one with the first tee-time of the day, the media beat him to the punch digging for information about his divorce. He has been more than polite and compliant with the onslaught, now let the man play golf. The good news out of Paramus is that on the first 16 holes , Tiger was four under. If he can manage to pull that off a few days in a row, he will truly be back on track. Of course, it’s really not fair to expect anyone to shoot that well day in and day out, but this is Tiger Woods. The other big news surrounds the fact that Jim Furyk was disqualified for arriving late to the 7:30 AM start at Barclays golf  tournament.

Basically he overslept and arrived at the clubhouse a few minutes after the time he was suppose to be on the 11th hole to tee off. He hasn’t made a real big issue out of it, although it could be potentially devastating. While Furyk didn’t say much about it, Phil Mickelson spoke up and with thunder as usual. According to Mickelson’s point of view, only half the field plays the Pro-Am so disqualifying Furyk from the Barclays golf tournament shouldn’t be acceptable.
