Terrelle Pryor: Class Act, Heisman Trophy Contender or Not

Ohio State and Miami hit the field on Saturday to add to the excitement of college football. The games are building in intensity and the fans are learning new names. Miami fans were hoping that Jacory Harris was going to be their guy. In the meantime, Terrelle Pryor, who was thought to be a huge contender for the Heisman Trophy hasn’t done anything spectacular either.

The one thing that the Ohio quarterback has done is speak out about his mentor Lebron James. He has asked that Ohio fans be nice to Lebron if he shows up for the Ohio-Miami game. As the quarterback of the Buckeyes speaks out in favor of Lebron, the fans may give Lebron a pass since this is a football game. However, not even Terrelle Pryor would be able to convince Cleveland fans to be nice to Lebron once basketball season kicks into full gear.

The most amazing part about these youngsters usually comes as their athletic prowess shows on the field. When a player the caliber of Pryor speaks out about a mentor, regardless of who it is, people need to open their eyes and see the reality. If the youngsters can get over the hump and just play the game, surely the adults can do the same. In the meantime, Terrelle Prior has shown nothing but class, even if he didn’t really look that much like a Heisman Trophy candidate.
