2011 NFL Predictions: Kansas City Chiefs 2011 Preview

The 2010 season didn’t end so great for the Kansas City Chiefs, a crushing playoff loss against the Baltimore Ravens, but that shouldn’t take away from what the team accomplished. They won the AFC West with a cast of largely young and unproven players, a brand new head coach, and other challenges along the way. That has their diehard fans excited for what 2011 may bring, and has bettors double checking their 2011 NFL predictions about who they think is the real deal.

2011 NFL Predictions

The Chiefs won’t be catching anyone by surprise this year, that’s for sure. But even without surprise, nobody should be able to do much to stop their great rushing attack. They finished 1st in the league in rushing yards per game in 2010, and they deploy a double-headed beast with Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones.

That helps to ease the load on quarterback Matt Cassel, who the team hopes will only continue to better himself. He has big target Dwayne Bowe to throw the ball to, as well as Tony Moeaki, and the club also drafted a wide receiver in the first round of the draft, Jonathan Baldwin for Pittsburgh.

The team is young on defense too, and needs their players there to step it up. Eric Berry can be a star if he’s more consistent, Glenn Dorsey is a force up front, Javier Arenas is a playmaker and Derrick Johnson is very talented too. So will that unit be able to hold their weight and keep the Chiefs in close games?

So before you complete your early and weekly NFL predictions for 2011, what do you make of the Chiefs? Was 2010 a fluke, or was it laying the foundation for an even better ball club this year, with more experience and grit? Only time will tell, and the Chiefs will be tested early and often after they enjoyed that success last year.
