2011 NFL Predictions: San Diego Chargers 2011 NFL Preview
The San Diego Chargers are one of the most perplexing teams in the league, and it seems like it’s the same story each and every season. They are chosen as early favorites with fans and experts and their 2011 NFL predictions, and then they stumble out of the gate and dig themselves a huge hole. The talent is all there, but the team can’t put it together, or waits too long to get it together, and in 2010, it ended up costing them the year as they missed the playoffs.
The team put up great numbers on offense, and on defense, but it was special teams that cost them multiple losses in the beginning of the year. Combined with some other blunders along the way, and the talent that the team has simply couldn’t overcome the obstacles. But with all of that talent, expectations, high hopes and favorite-status with NFL predictions will always be quickly following the team.
Quarterback Philip Rivers is one of the best in the league, and he is throwing to one of the best tight ends in league history with Antonio Gates. Hopefully the team finally resolves their situation with Vincent Jackson and gets him back on the field, because he is a game changer., and also makes things easy for other wide receivers, like Malcom Floyd.
The defense can be suffocating too, as they ranked 2nd in the league in 2010 in opposing passing yards. That’s thanks not only to their defensive backfield players, but also the pass rush upfront. But again, will the Chargers be able to put it all together, and will they be able to do that consistently throughout the year? You never know, and until they prove otherwise, the Chargers are a major question mark with your 2011 NFL football picks.
