2011 NFL Predictions: Indianapolis Colts 2011 Preview

The Indianapolis Colts are always one of the preseason NFL football picks favorites to make it to the playoffs and even the Super Bowl. It’s easy to take for granted the amazing success that the team has had throughout the entire Peyton Manning era. It’s seemingly a lock for 10 wins and the playoffs every year, no matter what. But you never know when that’s going to end, and the Colts need to make some improvements if they want to really live up to their NFL football picks favorites status for the 2011 season.

2011 NFL Predictions

First, there are injury concerns coming up relating to Manning, which has to be taken very seriously. Without Manning, the Colts would be nowhere. He had neck surgery in the off season and has been recovering slowly, so the team will need to make sure that he is completely healthy for 2011 and beyond. In 2010, just about every player on the team was hurt it seemed like, as wide receivers, defensive players and more were all dropping like flies.

Manning led the team to the most passing yards per game in the league, but he had to, because the team ranked 29th in rushing yards per game. In the draft, the club invested in offensive lineman to help protect Manning and get the running game going, and they’ll need players like Joseph Addai and Donald Brown to take the load off Manning.

Meanwhile, on defense, the Colts can make a lot of noise rushing the passer with Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, and they have some good players in the defensive backfield too, like Antoine Bethea and Melvin Bullitt.

As you’re making your 2011 NFL football picks, will the Colts continue their dominance in the AFC South? You’d be unwise to choose against Manning and company, injury concerns or not.
