New Orleans Bowl: Ohio Bobcats vs. Troy Trojans Predictions

New Orleans Bowl: Ohio Bobcats vs. Troy Trojans Predictions

The 2010 New Orleans Bowl kicks off the season of college bowl game betting, and is one of the first major bowls of the year to get underway. It’s an interesting match featuring two teams that had strong seasons. From the MAC you have the 8-4 Ohio Bobcats, and from the Sun Belt conference you get the 7-5 Troy Trojans. The teams are very different from one another and their styles will clash in this meeting. Check with the experts for the very best New Orleans Bowl: Ohio Bobcats vs. Troy Trojans Predictions and see what they have to say.

The Trojans of Troy are an offensive team, which bases its attack on its passing game. Quarterback Corey Robinson threw for 3,320 yards and 24 TD passes, and completed over 62% of his throws. He also threw a fair amount of picks though, with 15 interceptions on the year. At 303.6 yards of passing per game, Troy surprisingly ranks as the 12th best passing team in the nation, a stat you wouldn’t quickly realize because of their smaller conference standing.

They put up 32.9 points per game thanks to that offensive attack and air striking game plan. However, they also give up a huge 31 points per game, so they get into shootouts and then barely edge their opponents. It’s a recipe that may end up backfiring against Ohio, which has a much more stout defense, but still puts up respectable offensive numbers. The experts New Orleans Bowl: Ohio Bobcats vs. Troy Trojans Predictions have been posted so you can hopefully come out a winner Saturday night.

2011 BCS Championship Game: Auburn Tigers vs. Oregon Ducks

2011 BCS Championship Game: Auburn Tigers vs. Oregon Ducks

The head of the pack in terms of the BCS college bowl games is the National Championship Game. This year there are two first-time participants in the 2011 BCS Championship Game, the number 1 rated Auburn Tigers and the number 2 rated Oregon Ducks. Both finished their seasons with an undefeated record, and both are ready to put it all on the line in the title game to finish a perfect year.

Both Auburn and Oregon are known as offensive powerhouses, capable of scoring huge amounts of points. Oregon finished 1st in the country in scoring with 49.3 points per game, and Auburn finished sixth with 42.7. You can be sure that the college football betting around this game will be taking the over for the total points scored!

Auburn is headed by Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Cam Newton. Newton is a run and pass threat, finishing with over 2,500 passing yards and 28 TDs to go along with over 1,400 rushing yards and 20 TDs. Newton has had a dominant year that few before him have had, and he expects more of the same against Oregon.

Oregon is all about the hurry up, no huddle offense which keeps opposing teams on their heels. They had a Heisman finalist of their own, running back LaMichael James, who ran for 1,682 yards and 21 TDs on the season. In addition, their defense is actually fairly stingy, giving up only 18.4 points per game compared to Auburn’s 24.5.

In the final match-up for all of the college bowl games, it’s Auburn and Cam Newton against Oregon and their hurry up offense. Which team will prevail? Both have all of the momentum in the world, but it may be hard to go against the Heisman winner and the dominant team out of the SEC.
