Gonzaga University won their game against Florida State during first round play. Wake Forest was able to hold on and get the win in overtime playing the strong Texas team. Texas has struggled throughout the second half of regular season play, even though they had a 17-0 record at the start of the season. They did have a number one ranking, which was their first one in the team’s history. However, in the second half, they lost nine of their last 16 games. The loss to Wake Forest will be the first time that Texas has not been in the tournament since 2005. The game became tied at the end of regular play, and Wake Forest was trailing by eight points within the first few minutes of overtime play. They were able to catch up to Texas by performing a 13 to 4 run against Texas. Georgetown will not be advancing and neither will Vanderbilt. Notre Dame is out and Villanova was just able to hold on to be able to continue.
