Kentucky is still blowing through their SEC Tournament 2010 schedule as they beat Alabama on Friday during the quarterfinal games by a score of 73-67. Alabama was able to keep pace with Kentucky but fell short during the last half. Kentucky will now be playing Tennessee this afternoon, and it is anticipated that they should move on to the finals, which will be played on Sunday. Just like some of the other tournaments that are currently going on, there are some teams that may have blown their chances to a NCAA bid.

Mississippi got knocked out of the chances of going to the semifinals as Tennessee beat them 76-65. This is another SEC Tournament 2010 results that may not have been great news for Mississippi. They needed this win, in order to get a solid foothold on the NCAA bubble bid. The ACC Tournament 2010 results from the quarterfinals are in. One of the most closely watched games was Duke playing against Virginia. Virginia, which was the ninth seed coming into the tournament was able to give Duke a run for their money. Virginia was tied at halftime, and only trailed by two with six minutes remaining in the game. Duke was able to go on to win the game by a score of 57-46. There were a few games during the quarterfinals that are somewhat of upsets.

The ACC Tournament 2010 results of the Maryland and Georgia Tech game were somewhat surprising. The heavily favored Maryland team that many thought would go to the finals lost to Georgia Tech by a score of 69-64. North Carolina State was able to beat Florida State by six points with the score of 58-52. The other surprising game of the day was Miami beating Virginia Tech with the final score being 70-65. This puts Duke playing against Miami in one semi final and North Carolina State playing Georgia Tech in the other.

With the different twists and turns of the ACC Tournament 2010 results, we may see a surpirse team in the final on Sunday. The ACC tournament 2010 first round is over. Boston College did lose to the University of Virginia by a score of 68-62. Leading the way for Virginia was Sammy Zeglinski, who scored 21 points. The fifth seed Wake Forest fell to Miami with a final score of 83-62. The number seven seed Georgia Tech defeated North Carolina 62-58 and Clemson fell to North Carolina State in a close game with a final score of 59-57.

The quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament 2010, started today and in the first game it pitted Virginia against Duke. The number one seed Duke, which is vying for a top seed in the NCAA tournament beat Virginia with a final score of 57-46. Virginia Tech and Miami are playing this afternoon, and it is expected that Virginia Tech will be a look to pull out the win. In tonight’s action, Maryland will be playing Georgia Tech. For Maryland, winning the ACC tournament title will also improve their positioning in the upcoming NCAA tournament. The other game this evening will be Florida State taking on North Carolina State.

The semi-final games will be played on Saturday, and Duke will take on Virginia Tech or Miami. The Big Ten tournament 2010 today brings us the first time that we will see the top five seeded teams play. Some of the teams are trying to improve their seating in the NCAA tournament, while others may be on the fringe. Today the top seed Ohio State took on Michigan. This long-time rivalry played an exciting game and it came down to the last 2 seconds with Ohio State having the ball and needing a three pointer to win the game. Ohio State pulled it out on the 3 point shot by Evan Turner.

Wisconsin and Illinois played today in another exciting game of the Big Ten Tournament 2010. Illinois pulled out a win, and they will probably make it into the NCAA tournament. Illinois beat Wisconsin by a score 58-54 and will go on to play Ohio State. Wisconsin was looking to improve their position by obtaining a better seed. Purdue will be playing Northwestern, and Michigan State will be taking on Minnesota.

Both Northwestern and Minnesota are looking to upset the teams that they are playing this evening in order to have a shot at the tournament title. It still remains to be seen whether either team can make a run at a bubble shot in the NCAA tournament. The Big Ten tournament 2010 will continue on Saturday with the semi finals. Merlin Olsen Dies

Former Los Angeles Rams player Merlin Olsen dies on Thursday, March 11, 2010. He had been battling mesothelioma, which is a rare form of cancer and commonly attributed to being exposed to asbestos. The defensive tackle who is a member of the football Hall of Fame played his entire career with the Rams. He was part of the defensive line, which was commonly referred to as the “Fearsome Foursome”. This line, intimidated many teams with its exciting and aggressive play.

He played with the Rams from 1962 to 1976. He was also named to the Pro Bowl 14 consecutive times, and received the NFL’s valuable player award in 1974. He came from Utah State University where he was an All-American twice. Not to let his athleticism be his primary focus, he also received a Master degree from Utah State in 1970 while still playing football. Merlin Olsen still holds the record for tackles with 915.

Merlin Olsen is not just remembered for his football playing skills. After he left football, he spent several years as a football analyst for both NBC and CBS. He also played the character Jonathan Garvey in the NBC hit show, Little House on the Prairie, from 1977 to 1981. He was also the star in another NBC TV show called Father Murphy. In addition to his TV success, he also was the spokesperson for several companies in a variety of commercials. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, and has three children and four grandchildren.

The Ohio State basketball game against Michigan today came down to the last 2.2 seconds. The 35 foot shot by Evan Turner prevented the Ohio State team from being upset from their rival during the quarterfinal game of the Big Ten tournament. Michigan was trailing by 13 points, with only 10 minutes and 9 seconds left in the game. They were able to take the lead when Manny Harris scored a two point jump shot leaving 2.2 seconds to go in the game.

A timeout was called and then David Lighty put the ball into play directly to Turner. Turner, who has been named the Big Ten player of the year went about 10 feet over the half-court line and shot it over the hands of Stu Douglass. The officials did take a look at the replay before they ruled it was a good shot. Ohio State will now go to the semi final game on Saturday, where they will play Illinois. Illinois beat Wisconsin during the final minutes of their game earlier today.

The Ohio State team was led by Turner, who had 18 points with Lighty and William Buford each scoring 15 points. Michigan’s Manny Harris scored 22 points in the second half, giving the Michigan team its ability to stage a comeback. Ohio State is looking to improve their position in the upcoming NCAA tournament, while Michigan will now be hoping that they receive an invitation to the NIT tournament. Tonight’s matchup will have Minnesota playing Michigan State and Purdue playing Northwestern.

The headlines insinuated LeBron James steroid use, but as you read on you realized that it is in regard to a Cleveland Indian minor league catcher, Steven Lebron. The minor-leaguer who was signed in January and has been suspended for 50 games after he tested positive for the steroid Boldenone Metabolite. There are obviously many fans that breathed a sigh of relief.

The Cleveland Cavalier All-Star has missed two games after he injured his right ankle during the game against Detroit. It is anticipated that he will return to play this evening as the Cavaliers go up against the Philadelphia 76ers. James stated that had it been the playoffs, he would have most certainly continued to play even though he was injured. The team wanted to make sure that he was healed and was willing to give him a rest. With him not on the court, speculation was circulating regarding his health and when the news came out that Lebron James steroids, many people began to jump at the wrong conclusions.

James’s teammate, Antawn Jamison will miss tonight’s game against Philadelphia. He did not finish the game on Monday against the San Antonio team as he has had stiffness in his left knee. The team has stated that this is due to a cyst that is located behind his left knee. Coach Mike Brown went on to say that with rest and physical there should not be a problem for Jamison to return.
