NFL Week 4 betting odds aren’t giving Detroit much credit when they travel to Chicago to face their NFC North rivals on Sunday, as they’re double-digit underdogs on the road. They may not come away with the win, but Detroit will put up a fight after snapping their 19-game losing streak.

It wasn’t a virtuoso performance, but the Lions controlled the clock for over 36 minutes in a 19-14 win over Washington, powered by 101 rushing yards from Kevin smith. Matt Stafford was 21-of-36 for 277 yards and a touchdown for the Lions, but having a great rushing game helps a rookie quarterback tremendously, and Detroit racked up 154 yards on the ground. Sure, the Lions got burned for 325 passing yards, but Rome wasn’t built in a day: they know they have to take it one game at a time. At least they made tickets worth the price per head for their fans for the first time in months.

The Bears needed a late touchdown from Jay Cutler to Devin Hester to win 25-19 at Seattle, and the big-money quarterback is showing why Chicago was so eager to snatch him up when he became available. Cutler was 21-of-27 for 247 yards, three touchdowns and only one pick. He also showed he could carry the team when the ground game is struggling as the Bears had only 85 yards on the ground.
Chicago is a 10-point favorite in your offshore sportsbook, and they’ve beaten the Lions in six of their last 10 meetings. However, the Lions showed some guts and heart last year at Soldier Field, when they lost 27-23 to the Bears. There’s a new feeling of belief around the franchise, and they came out last week looking like they fully expected to win, not lose. The Bears had a lot to prove, especially on defense with the loss of captain Brian Urlacher, and Cutler is getting used to the Chicago system. On the road, a victory may be too much to ask of the Lions, but they should have enough fight in them to cover the spread in your NFL picks.
