Their O/U trends are 1-6 in their last 7 overall games, 1-4 in their last 5 games on the grass, 2-6-2 in their last 10 Week 14 games, 7-18-1 in their last 26 December games, and 9-24-1 in their last 34 games following a win. The Redskins fall to 5-7 after losing 38-14 to the Dallas Cowboys last Thursday. Kirk Cousins completed 26 of 31 throws for 251 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions while Samaje Perine led the rushing with 12 rushes for 38 yards and Ryan Grant led the receivers with 5 receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. The Chargers improved to 6-6 after beating the Browns last Sunday 19-10 with Philip Rivers completing 31 of 43 passes for 344 yards and a score. Melvin Gordon led the ground with 19 rushes for 77 yards while Keenan Allen led the receivers with 10 catches for 105 yards and the touchdown pass from Rivers.
Our Free NFL Pick: TE Jordan Reed, LB Zach Vigil, and DT Terrell McClain are just some of the few questionable for this game as the Redskins’ injury list is quite the lengthy one. Stranger yet is that coach Jay Gruden said that he has no intentions to let anyone rest as he seems to still have the aim of reaching the playoffs despite the wear-and-tear clearly showing in the team. On the other side, the Chargers have a few minor injuries with Hunter Henry and Corey Liuget but expect they’ll both play in this game. Rivers took a big hit himself against the Browns but after a moment to catch his breath, the quarterback seemed fine as well and is expected to play. That being said, with PK Nick Novak in IR for back problems, if Travis Coons can become more consistent, there would be more or less coming into this game perfectly fine. Even if they weren’t however, I don’t see the Redskins injured and worn squad making a strong showing here and with the Chargers still on the hunt for a playoffs spot and in a much better position, I see them taking the win here. Take Chargers to cover.
