The Titans made a crazy comeback victory last week against Kansas City Chiefs to win their AFC Wildcard 22-21. Marcus Mariota completed 19 of 31 passes for 205 yards, 2 scores, and a pick while Derrick Henry led the ground with 23 carries for 156 yards and a score and Delanie Walker led the receivers with 6 receptions for 74 yards. New England had secured their first-round bye and earned a week of rest but prior to that, they dominated the N.Y. Jets 26-6 on New Year’s Eve. Tom Brady completed 18 of 37 throws for 190 yards and 2 scores while Dion Lewis led the rushing with 26 carries for 93 yards and a score and Brandin Cooks led the receivers with 5 receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Our Free NFL Pick: The Titans had a harsh start in the first half of their game, trailing 21-3 to the Chiefs, but the moment Travis Kelce left the game with a concussion, the entire team came alive all at once. Their defence completely shut down Kansas City’s offense, holding them to zero first downs in the 3rd quarter and denying them any scores at all in the second-half. Mariota and Henry then made the plays needed, one of which was a touchdown pass from Mariota to himself, to snatch the lead and steal the game. As for the Patriots, it was never any doubt that they would dominate the Jets back on New Year’s Eve. The game was entirely one-sided and even though Brady didn’t perform to his usual level, it was still more than enough to dominate the Jets. Coming into this game, the Patriots are indeed most likely to win here as no one has greater success in the playoffs than they do. That 13.5 point spread, however, is another thing. Sure, the Titans aren’t an exceptionally strong team, but if their defense play and improve from last week and Mariota and Henry go to work, I don’t see it being by such a huge margin. I say take Tennessee.
