Atlanta beat the Rams in the NFC Wildcard last week 26-13 to move forward into the Divisional Playoffs this week with Matt Ryan going 21-30 for 218 yards and a score. Devonta Freeman led the ground with 18 carries for 66 yards and a score while Julio Jones led the receivers with 9 catches for 94 yards and the touchdown pass from Ryan. The Eagles had a first-round bye and will be coming into this game after a week of rest and practice but prior to that, they lost their last game 6-0 to the Dallas Cowboys. Nick Foles completed 4 of 11 passes for 39 yards and a pick before being subbed for Nate Sudfeld who completed 19 of 23 passes for 134 yards. LeGarette Blount led the rushing with 9 carries for 37 yards while Mack Hollins led the receivers with 3 receptions for 25 yards.
Our Free NFL Pick: The Rams loss does come as a surprise to many, myself included, but during the actual game, it was easy to see their nerves were never quite settled from the start. Pharoh Cooper and Blake Countess each cost them a fumble in the early game and while Gurley did have some passes and runs, they were all hard-earned. On the other hand, the Falcons looked strong and composed all the way through and capitalized on the mistakes of the young Rams whenever possible to secure their victory. As for the Eagles, their loss wasn’t a big one as their spot in the playoffs was already safe; however, it was no doubt a worrying one. Many expected Foles to step it up in the game and show the team that there was nothing to worry about but that was not the case after his performance. Granted, he only played for one quarter before Sudfeld came on but being a young QB with little throws for the regular season, one expected him to gain more experience on the field. That means the Eagles are coming into this game with a rather unsure QB although DEs Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, and LB Nigel Bradham will all be playing in this game unlike against Dallas. Still, I’m very unsure of the state of Foles and he is the QB they’ve decided for this game so I’m going to say take Atlanta.
